I’m Jan Genesis, a BAFTA-nominated, International
Multi-Camera Director.
I’m also the Founder of Genesis Media Productions.
During my career I’ve had the pleasure of directing some of the biggest names in entertainment and sport, including; Snoop Dogg, Nas, Wizkid, Usher, Lewis Hamilton, Stormzy, Paco Rabanne and the Mercedes AMG F1 Team.

Here's a bit about my experience...
I have a solid background in directing live events, and unscripted television including studio-based programmes, on-location shoots, and popular reality TV show formats including Love Island, and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.
My recent directing credits include Rhythm and Flow Season 2 for Netflix, Live from Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central for NBC, and the 2024 Hip Hop Awards for BET, as well as large-scale live broadcasts, such as The Commonwealth Games: Birmingham 2022—Closing Ceremony and the EMAAR Dubai NYE Event – viewed by over 1 billion people worldwide.
My live work includes the Hip Hop 50 Live anniversary event streamed from the Yankee Stadium in New York, as well as Global Citizen Festival New York 2023 (USA), Global Citizen Festival 2022 Accra (Ghana), YouTube Originals’ A Day in the Live with Wizkid, which trended as number 1 globally, and the Bridgerton Season 2 World Premiere.
These are key examples of my ability to execute extremely high production values in a live environment.

Building a performance-driven working environment is essential to me — one that’s centred around meaningful human connections and one that also focuses on well-being.
I have found that having this approach helps to inspire, motivate and elevate my peers, and helps to get the best out of the teams I work with.

Genesis Media Productions
In 2013 I founded my own production company, Genesis Media Productions.

Helping young talent looking to get into the industry and helping them to overcome any barriers facing them, is really important to me.
So much so, I support selected projects aimed at young people in the music, film and TV industry. Such as Apprentice Nation, taking part in their “Lecture in Progress” podcast series.
I also previously sat on the board at Directors UK.
